Before you download: Windows will warn you about this file

Windows SmartScreen warns about programs it has not seen before. Microsoft’s documentation is explicit that this is a reputation check — it looks at the file, the site and the signing certificate, and “if there’s no reputation, the item is marked as a higher risk and presents a warning to the user.” This build is brand new, and our Microsoft Azure code-signing application is still awaiting approval. Until that is complete, the file has no signing reputation.

Expect a “Windows protected your PC” panel when you run the installer. To continue, click More info, then Run anyway. Your browser may block the download itself for the same reason — SmartScreen checks files as they are downloaded, not only when they run.

We are not going to tell you when that warning will stop appearing, because we do not control it — reputation is Microsoft’s to grant, and a certificate has to earn one too. What we can do is publish the SHA-256 for a build whenever GitHub reports one, so you can confirm the file you received is exactly the file we published.
